A security guard has been found guilty of plotting to kidnap, rape, and murder television presenter Holly Willoughby.
Gavin Plumb assembled a toolkit intended for highly sexualised violence against the former This Morning presenter to fulfil his “ultimate fantasy.”
The 37-year-old from Harlow, Essex, was arrested and charged after unwittingly disclosing his plans online to an undercover police officer in the US.
Plumb denied soliciting murder and inciting kidnap and rape between 2021 and 2023 but was found guilty following an eight-day trial at Chelmsford Crown Court. As Plumb was found guilty of a plot to kidnap, rape and murder the TV star, he’s said to have slowly shaken his head and looked down at the floor, before weeping.
In a statement, Ms. Willoughby said: “I will forever be grateful to the undercover police officer who understood the imminent threat, and to the Metropolitan and Essex police forces for their swift response.”
After Willoughby was mentioned by name, he responded, “I’m not going to lie, she is a fantasy of mine.”
While giving evidence in court, Plumb admitted he felt a “rush of excitement” about the idea of keeping Willoughby in a “dungeon,” but insisted it was just “online chat.”
The security guard was questioned about a BDSM kit he had purchased. An image shown in court depicted various items laid out, including handcuffs, a whip, a blindfold, and cable ties in plastic bags.
He was also asked about bottles of chloroform he had bought, which he claimed were intended to clean a “large stain next to my fridge.”

The SIF team have all been horrified to read the full extent of what security officer Gavin Plumb was planning for the kidnap and murder plot of Holly Willoughby.
Fortunately, Plumb is not representative of the thousands and thousands of dedicated security professionals up and down the UK who protect us everyday.
Plumb’s previous violent history, does though, raise the concerns around vetting, particularly during this epidemic of WhatsApp recruiters who’s cash in hand offers of same day work puts all of us at risk.
