- Security workers must have safe welfare facilities.
- Violence must be recorded, investigated and acted upon.
- Lone working must be properly risk assessed.
- Staff must receive site-specific training before deployment.
- Workers must receive clear instructions on reasonable force and withdrawal.
- Workers must not be disciplined unfairly for defending themselves or others lawfully.
- Assaulted workers must receive welfare support and practical assistance.
- Unsafe sites must be reviewed before staff are redeployed.
- PPE and safety equipment must be provided free of charge.
- Workers and union representatives must be consulted on safety matters.
You are safer with SIF
Security workers protect everyone else.
SIF exists to make sure someone is protecting them.
If you are assaulted, threatened, injured, denied welfare facilities, left alone in unsafe conditions, pressured to work without training, or punished for raising safety concerns, contact SIF.
Do not suffer in silence.
Do not accept unsafe work as normal.
Do not let employers or clients treat violence as part of the job.
Security workers deserve respect, protection and a voice.
